To sleep your brain must enter Theta rhythm.
As it does this, the various parts of your body from heart through to all your muscles, goes into a type of autopilot.
The brain can then concentrate on healing itself by dreaming.
As you 'fall' asleep, the brains control is relinquished and the body believes it may be falling or in some sort of peril.
The body organs then send a message, through the various nerves, to the brain warning of impending danger. The Brain reacts on instinct (fight or flight response kicks in automatically) for a fraction of a nanosecond before over-riding itself and making the body relax again.
Thus your body will twitch as you 'fall asleep'
If you dont this simply means that your body is under tighter control or your instincts are not as well developed, but this is not a problem though.
To try to stop, it simply try to relax for half an hour or so before going to bed.
This means that you can .......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Because when you hare having a dream you feel like you are inside the dream as well. So you feel like you are doing in for real but is not and that is what causes it.

It can be because you're extremely tired and your body is going thru the process of shutting down, and then it starts doing that.

the heart beat slows down when you go through different stages of falling asleep, so your body jolts when nerve endings and the muscles relax.
