They are the human race.
The division came at the time of the tower of Babel, when people in unity power built a tower to reach the gods.
God didn't want them to do this, because things would get corrupted like before the flood. So God divided the languages. Also a child brought forth at this time was named Phleg. His name means dividing by floods, earthquakes, etc. I believe God divided the languages where people grouped according to language, but also, God divided the Great continent also. I believe this, because after this extreme natural disaster, people never lived past their 200th birthday anymore.
Also, with Continental shift, people will adapt, and marry according to looks and surviving strengths in that particular earth location. Thus we have different races & languages.
A new thought also is that I believe the Language of God is all languages plus more combined (without the corruption). It is prophecied in OT that there will be one language at the age of Christ (without corruption).

There were no "race" of people in those days.... All we know is that they were created and formed from the dust of the earth......
As far as I know, there were no particular "race" of people being called a people.....It was those who were named.. Races came from those who were alive in those days..... The Hittites, the Caanites, the Jebusites, the Ammorites.... etc...... These are just a few of the 'tribes' of people in those days......
Likely the Hebrews were first......
But, when the 12 tribes came from Abraham.....Those who followed the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, these "races" of people were named after them......
keeping in mind, also, that none were called 'races', they were called "Tribes".........
Your sister,
Ginger

The different races came from the place a person dwelt. The exposure to the sun caused pigments in skin to change. Because of Africas exposure to the sun, especially near the equator, it's inhabitants become dark skinned. Apparently the pigmentation is permanent and genetic.

One of the reasons Adam and Eve are fictional.
Creationists usually point to the Tower of Babel, which "not only mixed up the languages, but also the religions and races, too".

Many experts in the field of biology would disagree that there is actually any such thing called race. Differences between all of humanity are so small, there is more variation in Africa than in the whole of the rest of the world.

This story was made up so that the ancient Jews could have a nice story to tell children when they asked about where they came from.It doesn't have anything to do with spiritual reality at all.The old testament is full of made up story's like that. What is important is only what Jesus came for and what he tried to teach us.Peace. and I wish for you a wonderful New Year

MANKIND ADAM
……………………….
Most have read when Cain talked with Abel and in the field killed him.
Gen.4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
God then cursed and drove Cain out, and Cain said.
Gen.4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
WHO IS CAIN WORRIED ABOUT?
Gen.4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
WHERE DID CAIN FIND A WIFE?
