computer blows. sorry
seriously though, sims 2 requires a lot of memory from your graphics card and computers ram. i use to run it on 512 mb of ram and a 32mb raedon graphics card... thats a lot really but even that wasn't enough to process it. now i run it on 1gig of ram and with nvidia geoforce card, and it runs perfectly. also, getting a new hard drive wouldn't do much if you don't have the memory.
BUT... you can close down all unnecessary programs and run it with less optimal graphics. in the options menu it will allow you to change the graphic quality, which should definitely help you out.

It's a very high end game and needs ALL of the attention your computer can spare.
If you still have your Sims 2 booklet, read through it and it should give you a little information/walkthrough to help you close out all the programs you don't need to have running, before yout start your game up.
I do this all the time and it makes my sims game run a lot better.

Sometimes it's slow because your computer has too many files that take up space. Try deleting unused orunwanted files that should help.

The problem might be that your PC is does not have the required capacities for this game or your hard disk is full or the central memory (RAM) is not big enough

It's probably because your computer's drive is very old, and can't process the game up to speed. Try getting a newer hard drive. It might be expensive, but it will make the game better & faster. =]

It might be your computer? You could try restarting it and see if that works! Or take the game back to get another one!
Hope that helps

You need to take it back to the store. You can switch it for another one.
