I have been with my g/f for two years. Sometimes when we are alone, we talk about the future and getting married and having kids. We even talk about what we would name them. Is this Normal??

Yes, the idea of dating is really the process, of finding your mate. When the 2 of you talk a bout marrige, and kids, you are finging out important information a bout each other. What if you got married one day, only to find out latter that she only wants one child, and you always thought 3 was perfect, or you like traditional names, and she likes to makeup ones with funny spellings??Not only is this normal, but a really good idea.

Certainly - for if you are intending to marry - discussions and decisions on children, how to raise them, discipline, spiritual decisions/input for your family as a whole, financial matters and how to manage household things - are all basic things that should be decided well before the final legal commitment.
If more couples would do this - it would most likely better secure the solidity of their marriages and lives together.
For a house divided among itself cannot stand.
Best to be totally sure than emotionally and financially damaged.

It's completely normal and natural, especially of couples that have been together a while, as you have. Not all do it, but enough do it to where it's not weird or unusual. Just because you know someone who thinks it odd, doesn't mean it is...it simply may be something that never crossed their mind.

it is normal, but i will say that u should take it slow. make sure u are absolutely in love with each other before u do anything. some women like men that think of the future.

well, this probably means you are a very deep and thoughtful person. and that does not make you insane. her friend is wrong because some guys are actuall thoughtful. just ask her and see if she thinks it is insane too. this probably means you two are meant for each other

i talk about that to my boyfriend, i think that if your'e serious about eachother that it's fine, to me it's just getting a head start on your plans, go for it and do listen to the accusations people make about it, it's your plans and no one should get in the way of that. talk about anything you want. it's your guys' lives.
