What a dilemma?
I work for the NHS and its not unknown for staff to ring in sick on Christmas Day! Its much harder to do that now but it happens.
My advice is to stay home .There will always be some bright spark who thinks you are sale shopping or still recovering from the new year but you health must come 1st. If your sick your sick. And this time of year people always struggle to work with stinking colds and then give them to everyone else.
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. Happy New Year to you too

aww i thought of that today. i have an assistant that calls in like every other monday and i have been ready to chew her out if she calls me in the a.m.!! are you a chronic sicko? if so, i'd suck it up and go in. i don't know where you live, but here it has rained all weekend and been cold so it is totally possible that you could be sick. what does 'a bit mardy' mean? tell them to get over it. if you're really sick then take the day off. if you're faking, it will come back to bite you in the *** sooner or later.

Alot of companys do not like when workers call in sick let alone after a holiday, if you call in they might ask for a doctors note, that is what our company does, so you either go in sick and let them see you are sick or call in sick and get a doctors note, or risk not getting paid for the sick day and not getting paid for the hoiday, again, that is how the company I work for handles sick after holiday. Good luck.

If you dont feel too bad go in. If you feel really bad, still go in and throw up on your boss. Where I used to work, if you didnt go in the day after the bank holiday, they docked you not only that day, but the bank hol as well.
If you think your gonna be ill for longer, you can self certify for up to seven days, that should prove youre not just swinging the lead.

You know that your sick and that should be all that matters. When you work next just throw in that you didn't want to call in because you didn't want people getting the wrong impression but you were really sick so you decided to call in anyways

I'd say it would depend on how sick you feel (& look). If you don't feel too bad, or just have a stuffy nose & cough or something, you probably should go. But if you feel exahusted, sick to your stomach, or feverous, don't go. Also, if you look really sick, people at your work probably won't think you should be there. I hope you feel better soon!

I would wait and see how you feel tomorrow, then you can either call them and tell them your situation and see if they want you to come in or not, or like everyone else said go and get sent home early...you could always go to the doctors and get a doctor note!! Hope you feel Better!!

I would go to the dr and take in a note from him/her if I wanted to keep my job. ANYONE calling in sick after a long vacation is on my poopy list, I never buy it.

it depends how sick you are. if I felt ok to work, I would go and try to make it through the day, if I didn't feel good, i would leave early. at least you tried.
if you do not feel well. call in sick. your body needs to rest.
