I am so sorry for you and this individual's other loved ones and friends.

At difficult times like this, I appreciated it when people brought paper products like paper plates and cups, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, plastic forks and spoons, in addition to sandwich makings or a nice soup or casserole in a foil pan that can be used at the family's convenience and so they don't have to return dishes when all is over. It's all about making things easier for the grieving family and friends.

In addition, one of the nicest items I have received that I would never have thought of on my own was books of stamps to be used to send thank you notes after the funeral. I now do this, and people are so grateful. Plants and flowers are nice, but then the family has to do something with them after the services.

Another thing you might offer to do if you can is sit at the home during the services so someone is there in case thieves plan to take advantage of this family's tragedy.

I am sorry to hear this, and I think dropping by and bringing flowers is very nice, you may also want to bring a fruit basket or some munchies of some sort, probably no one is grocery shopping or taking care of themselves right now. When my Dad died, the neighbors actually took turns coming and fixing our dinners for about four days. They brought food, helped warm it up, set it up and then stayed to clean up. It was one of the nicest things anyone could have done. It showed they cared, and they were there. There aren't any magic words at a time like this, but just being there is very nice.

bring a big mixed bouquet and a sympathy card. You could also drop off something to eat, like a casserole that can be heated and maybe a snack tray for quick picking at.

My condolonces to you and your family.

Sorry to hear.

Florists do have special floral arrangements that can be placed on a stand next to the body. You may want to go that route.
