I just saw that the Star Bar has been renamed to Moro!
Others that have changed that I can remember
Marathon-Snickers
Opal fruits-Starbursts
Treats-M+M's
This really annoys me,they just do it so they can make one crappy set of adverts they can show all over the world ,badly dubbed of course.
What the bloody hell are these idiots upto?

I guess it's to try and make people believe that the product is somehow different and better, even though we all know different. I haven't seen Star Bars around for a long time in the UK, they're really nice!

This seems to be happening in America too, but the changes appear to be occuring in cereals, not candy bars. Sugar Crisp is now known as Golden Crisp. Cheerioats became Cheerio's.

Names tend to go stale so the brands change the name to spruce up the product.....
...............................New Name = new image + attracts new consumers = greater profit.
and also because when they sell the products overseas apparently non English speakers can't pronounce it.
Like the bathroom cleaner Jiff was changed to Ciff for that same reason. The company got many complaints and had to justify their actions by doing a television commercial interviewing non English speakers trying to pronounce Jiff where they had a very miserable time actually trying to say it.

Think it worked the other way for Raider Bars in Europe. They became Twix.
Also Jif - Cif, Oil of Ulay - Oil of Olay.
All to do with reducing branding, packaging, advertising costs.

If they are changing the names its so that they can save money on printing and ink. This way it's all the same less breakdown of priting machines and looks of papersize etc. its part of quality control and running a business efficiently and effectivly. Bottom line...they want to reduce costs so they get bigger bonuses.

Yes, it annoys me too. I also hate the fact that they've changed the traditional Smarties tube to a hexagon shape or whatever it is.
And Dime bar has been changed to Daim!
Leave our sweets alone!
