im 16, weigh 174, and 5'8". the healthy weight for my height is about 150 so thats my first goal. do you think if i jog everyday (like 6+ laps around a soccer field), if i eat small portions of home cooked meals, that i'll lose weight? my mom cooks portuguese meals. some meals are boiled potatoes with cod fish and brocolli rabe with olive oil and vinegar over it, another is rice with carrots and peas with grilled chicken or pork chops, another is potatoes with chicken or pork. my mom also makes brocolli or green beans every week. to me these foods are healthy. do you think they are?
at breakfeast im thinking about eating a fruit like a banana or an orange with maybe a low fat yogurt.
so do you think if i eat these foods and jog everyday that i'll lose weight effectively?
which foods are best to eat? are rice and potatoes okay to eat when trying to lose weight? i'll cut off all breads and drink lots of water.
so is this a good plan or should i change some things? whats best to do?

Sounds like a well thought out plan. Go easy on the starchy stuff like rice and potatoes, but you can have some. Everything else you mentioned sounds quite good to me. Clearly, you have to watch the size of the portions. If you have a younger sister or brother, one just a little kid (5 or 6 at the outside), try eating the same amount they do. I have found that, when I am dieting, if I eat the same as a little kid who is trying to grow up, I grow down (get smaller). You can even get a "happy meal" at McD and send me the toy! LOL

What you need is a balanced diet, and a good Cardiovascular workout. The thing is, running is a very efficient workout for cutting the fats off. Jogging is good, but the time taken while jogging should exceed at least 15 to 30 mins for an efficient burn.
Meats are fine, and as long as your food isn't too oily it should be fine. Watch how much you eat as well, preferred dieting amounts should be, Large portion during breakfast, middle portioned during Lunch and eat less during dinner, that way you cut down on the unused energy and fats produced during then night and provide more energy in the morning and afternoon in which you are most active and working.
Drinking water is good, but pace yourself and drink an average of 8 glasses a day, you have to realise that most of your food also contain a hefty amount of moisture and therefore keeping yourself hydrated shouldn't be a problem.
What you should do is try to hit the gym on a weekly basis and do very light weights on the muscle groups you wish to cut down on. For example if you want your arms to be leaner, take a 1 or 2kg dumbbell and do workouts with it, high repetition and low weight will give you the cutting. This will help you get into an overall good shape and not just cut down on the weight itself. As im sure you want to look good and not only weigh good.
Cheers and Happy new year

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

First thing is find someone you trust to help you reach your goal.
Your meal plan seems pretty thought out, two good rules for weight lose meals are, no carbs in your last meal (no rice, no bread, no potatoes) and eat smaller portions during your meals, but snack in between meals.. this helps keep your motabolizism up and makes burning the calories easy on your body with out making you feel tired or lazy.
Keep a journal, at first things may take awhile to notice any changes, but after a month you will feel pretty good.
ps. You need carbs for energy so don't cut them out, just eat them earlier in the day, so that you can burn them off all day long.

Exercise is very good for you and should help you lose weight and tone your body. The foods you have lised sound quite healthy as long as the meats are not cooked in any fat. I wouldnt have anything with olive oil on it. Rice and Potatoes are good for you but there is not much point cuting out all bread if you are always eating carbs in your rice and pots.
It is good that you are aiming to eat main meals because eating nothing is not a good way to lose weight. You can cut your portions and this should help but dont starve your body eat plenty just not too much.
I am following a slimming world diet and the basics is dont eat carbs with protein, so one day i eat pots, rice pasta etc then the next day eat meat. You should look into this because you can eat loads and lose weight fast.

your meal plan sounds great. you might be a little too heavy for jogging though...my co-worker is 5'2" 140lbs and her doctor told her that she is too heavy for walking or jogging and it is bad for her knees. you should talk to a doctor about it.
