My teen as a child was diagnosed with ADD, attention deficit disorder. Problems in school galore and now she's 15 and the doctors are treating her for Bipolar. She's defiant, she lies, and stays out all night, has been incarcerated for 30+ days for her Awol behavior and has started it up again after being released. I'm now questioning her medical diagnosis, and I'm seeing more of a defiant teenager that thinks her friends are friends. I'm wondering if theres a video out there that can give me some kind of idea on a teenager behaves with bipolar. Granted each indivdiual is different, but there has to be some similarities somewhere.

I understand and can appreciate your frustration. You might consider talking with a separate therapist for youself to help ease your distress because it sounds like you need an informed way to vent. You may also look into a group called the National Aliance For Mental Illness. You can find loads of information on the web from them. They also hold free meetings for family members that will help you deal with your particular situation. Sometimes persons that are "labeled" with illnesses sometimes will take advantage of the situation and you need to know how to help her without enabling her to take advantage of you. You may be able to find videos in your public library that you can check out. I am positive that if you research the illness there will probably be a list of videos that you can purchase. You did not mention whether or not she is on medication, that might be somthing to look into. If she is it may need to be adjusted or changed. If she isn't, it may be a good idea to discuss it with her doctor. I really believe if you search the NAMI group that I mentioned above, it will be so helpful.

ok being defiant and lies and going out all night is her just being a teen, medicine is not going to help her, you need to put your foot down she is your child and she is young and needs to understand that she can't contnue that behavior. thousands of teens are diagnosed with bipolar or add i was diagnosed with bipolar when i was 14 but im not i was just going through a rough time becoming a teen, you just need to dicipline your child but also let her know you love her. don't always be on her though if she is good, let her have some freedom cause if you dont shell pull away

Have you tried pulling up bipolar.com for any information there?

Otherwise, contact your local mental health facility to see if other information can be received there - do not know if has video to share but may know of other outlets that you can search thru.

You child is not diseased just needs extra help.

Best wishes!
