i doubt it. there are many alarmists especially when its a slow newsday...ever notice how when there isn't much death and destruction going on in the news that all of a sudden global warming, bird flu and other such 'catastrophes' suddenly become important? scaring ppl and controlling them is more about headlines than reality. the newspaper owners and reporters must sit up there and laugh their butts off when they print something then the internet lights up with ppl asking about it.

Well the problem with Bird Flu now is we don't know and we can't be sure. There is no guarantee that it won't mutate into something deadlier, neither do we have the confidence to claim that the cure will be found or it will last forever. The issue is how to be aware and to be healthy.
Whether we find a cure, lets say it hits India suddenly, how fast can you vaccinate everyone in that country? I'd say people will start falling as soon as the UN gets the news of the outbreak. Then again I may be wrong as well. Who knows? Hamster Flu might be the next hit in a global epidemic =)

The reality is that the basic "flu" (influenza) has killed over 39,000 Americans alone this year, (compared to the under 390 that the Bird flu has killed worldwide.) However any virus can mutate into a far more deadly form. (An example would be the great flu pandemic of 1918.) Is it likely that the bird flu will mutate into a more deadly strain, no but anything is possible.

WHO did not describe the swine flu as a "flu-like ailment". "Influenza-like ailment" (ILI) is a commonplace term used to describe non-specific respiration ailments, of which flu is one reason. The WHO article of course states which of the sufferers with ILI have now been shown with swine flu. something of the situations have not been shown yet as tormented by swine flu. for this reason, the others are categorized as tormented by ILI till they are able to be shown one way or the different. some have desperate to overlook approximately epidemiology, as a fashion to return up with loopy theories. easily, pigs capture flu from human beings, different pigs and different animal species (e.g., birds). in the event that they're uncovered to 2 different flu viruses on a similar time, the viruses can combine to form a sparkling virus. the undeniable fact that a flu virus develops which incorporates fragments from human, swine and birds isn't unusual. the only difficulty unusual is that the present swine flu seems to have pig virus from different continents.

No! Research your annual news records, every year it is almost like someone rewound the tape. The media always try to scare people into supporting the sponsors that support their liberal causes, i.e. bird flu - medical research and pharmaceuticals... and the list goes on...

hard to tell...from the sound of it, it seems like it would be a pressing concern, but if it were a pressing concern, wouldnt it get more media coverage? it seems to me like it was just a new toy for newspapers and other media to sell a few more papers or grab a few more viewers...i'd hate to have to eat a piece of humble pie if i was wrong on that one, cuz then we'd actually have an epidemic on our hands
