It's not really the tomatoes...

In a bloody mary, it's actually the alcohol that helps. A hangover is your body's way of "coming down" or withdrawing from the effects of alcohol. The shot of vodka in a bloody mary helps to soften the blow of your body's crashing symtoms.

As far as spaghetti sauce or chili, it more than likely the fat content. Fats and oils break down alcohol very well. Same theory works with any fried fatty food.

There's probably something to be said for the vitamins in vegetables replacing ones depleted by your body while processing the alcohol. Drinking also dehydrates you, so try water or Gatorade the next day if you're body's sore or to help with a headache.

The vitamin C in the tomatoes replaces the C you lost drinking the night before.

Gatorade and aspirin help, too. :)

Tomato is very good for you. It contains vitamin A, vitamin C, anti-oxidants, etc. Tomato is so good for you it makes even pizza not-such-a-bad food.
