You don't need socialism and friends to survive, but listen to this.
Keeping friends, making friends, and solving friend related problems does take work. It might not seem like it so some because it comes so naturally. But to something like chess club nerds, making and keeping friends does take work.
A great man once said, "The greatest joy in life is friends and socializing amongst others."
Imagine being through life without ANYONE to talk to, and no one to have fun with.

A more specific question for such specific answers would be most appreciated, but I'll do the best with what I've got to work with, so here goes:
1) Are you saying that having a job or a career is not a priority in a person's life, or are you saying the opposite?
2) Someone living in the Gaza Strip may have different priorites than someone in Miami, FL.
3) If you're speaking of why ppl do not further their education apart from just existing in a dead end job, then my answer would be that perhaps such ppl are happy with the nature of their job and find their priority with the richness in their lives lies in their work environment, their relationship with their co-workers, steady paychec, etc.
4) perhaps these ppl want to advance their education, but for some reason, are not able to get a grant, loan for an advanced degree or even college. Maybe their schedule doesn't allow it such as raising children. Some parents may be able to sacrifice and take time away from their children, but others cannot or choose not to make this important sacrifice.
**Could be a host of reasons.
Peace!

does that mean caring for someone who is sick or elderly would be an unnecessary responsibility ? afterall I don't need them to survive nor advance my life, but I would still feel that the love and concern I have for them would cause me to feel responsible in some way, after all they may have cared for me when I would not help in their survival or advancement.
You have the responsiblities because it makes up the kind of person you are ... and who you will become ... so I guess it all matters somehow

Most people like to have a better quality of life or make life better for others. Like you have a responsibility ot do your yard work, but you don't have to do it nor does it advance your life. It makes you feel good to take care of the things you have or to take on challenges such as hobbies or crafts. People need to feel needed and have jobs to do.

life is not about quantity, it's about quality. You get out of life what you put into it. Don't always look at is as a negative thing because it's really not.
