Does anyone know how long it takes? I've been in my current job since October 2005 and neither myself or my employer thought about my latest P45. I have submitted this in mid November and and have been getting about £130/month on top of my normal wage since. From what I calculated I've overpaid about £1500 and wondered how long it takes to get it back (if ever ?!?!?!?!?)
Thanks :)

You need to start chasing up the Inland Revenue tomorrow. Hopefully you kept copies of your claim and P45. If you didn't, your employer will give you contact details for the relevant Tax Office. You should have had a letter from them by now and it could be nothing at all will happen unless you get on their case.

Once you make contact with them they'll probably start stalling tactics. Haven't got your P.45, where were you working for the previous year, or ask for your details over again. They lose things.

You will get all your overpayments back but it might be a frustrating struggle for a while. Took my son around 3/4 months from start to finish.

Tax year runs from April- MArch so there is a claim from Nov 05-MArch 06. You need to fill in a tax return and before january 31st this year. Your coding needs to change. I cannot work it out just from waht you say, but the tax office will advise.
You need a P60 at the end of every tax year. You can claim back Tax I think for up to 5 years, so you will be ok.

you wont get any tax back unless you go self employed,, all the tax office will do is take less tax next year by changing your tax bracket to compensate you paying to much,, sorry for the bad news,,,

Would think the timeframe would be no different than what has prior been.
