I had a baby 4 months ago, and am still carrying an extra 20 pounds. I need to lose it by March (8 weeks!) Is losing 2.5 pounds a week realistic? Can I do it on the Slim Fast diet? I do 30 minutes of arobic excersize per day, plus push ups and abdominal crunches.

Its doable, the recommended weight loss is around 2 lbs week. Im not a fan of the Slimfast diet as it does not use real food and to keep weight loss maintained you need to eat normally. Look at the GI Diet by Rick Gallop, its a great way to lose, easy, effective and sustainable. You eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day and never get hungry with it. I have lost almost 80lb with it in 6 months;

I would hesitate to use Slim-Fast because of the high levels of sugar. The 4 main ingredients are skim milk, sugar, fructose, and cocoa. In other words, milk, sugar, and sugar. Other ingredients include various vegetable oils, emulsifiers, and a dubious vitamin blend. A 375ml (1.5 cups) shake contains 12 grams of protein -- slightly less than what you'd obtain drinking the same amount of 1% low-fat milk. This same shake contains 38 grams of carbohydrates -- 20 grams more than if you drank the equivalent amount of 1% low-fat milk (with those additional carbs coming from the added sugar). Considering that milk contains significant amounts of vitamins A and D, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B12, Calcium, Phosphorous, Magnesium and Zinc, I'd suggest that you chuck the Slim Fast shakes (vitamin blend and all), and simply drink milk instead.

there is so much sugar in these shakes and so little fiber, your blood sugar levels are going to go through the roof -- especially if you happen to be hyperinsulinemic, or hypoglycemic. So you can look forward to intense cravings, fatigue, unproductivity, mood swings, and more cravings. Not good when you have a newborn!!!
I'm on a no-sugar diet as of today, and I'm supposed to drop up to 8 pounds a week when the body starts burning stored fat, rather than using the "blood sugar" for fuel. Once I stop eating anything with sugar, I feel so much better, too. I'd avoid Slim Fast and get on a low-card diet (which is no fruit, no bread, pasta, grains, no milks, etc.)

My doctor put me on it.

Yes, the Slim-Fast diet might work for you but you never know untill you try it out. Slim-Fast drinks make you full and give you a lot of vitimins in them thats why I drink them but I'm not exactly sure if they helped me loose weight or not (I lost 18 lbs but I don't know if it was from Slim-Fast)

When I was on a diet, I had one can of slim fast a day just because I was starving myself and I didn't think I was getting enough nutritions.... I wasn't exactly on a slim fast diet...but I did lose 30lbs over all.

slim Fast may work but the weight will come back. I would suggest Isagenix. I have had great results with this all natural product.

It is available by distributor.
