Here is a link to the rules for craps, as well as a basic strategy for playing.
http://theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/rules/craps.htm

If you'd like to practice, some online casinos allow you to play in practice mode rather than for real money. I recommend Casino Grand Bay. http://www.referspot.com/showadtext.asp?g=0&b=1531&w=2233&s=b

If Casino Grand Bay is not to your liking, you can search hundreds of sites at The Online Casino Gambling Directory.http://theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/s.php&SRC=YahooAnswers

Best of luck!
Robert

Craps gives you one of the best shots at making good on your money, provided you know which bets are the ones worth making and which ones to reconsider.

Craps is best played with patience. The Pass Line bet and the Place bet for 6 or 8 will stand you in good stead over the long haul. Because of the low house advantage, these are two of the best bets you're likely to make.

Pass Line Bets: you win if the shooter rolls a 7 or an 11 on the first roll, or if the shooter establishes a point by rolling 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 and then rolls that same number again before rolling a 7.

Place bet on 6 or 8: you win if either a 6 or an 8 (depending on what number you're betting on) is rolled before a 7.

Betting Any 7

You'll often find craps players betting on 'Any 7'. The odds of Any 7 bets pay out at 4 to 1. The chances of you actually landing that bet are 5 to 1. Do the math and you'll see that it's just not worth it.

Betting The Field

As tempting as it is to bet the field, because it gives you lots of numbers to win and the payouts can be fairly attractive, there are a few cautions. For starters, you lose money much faster on this bet, and for every 16 winning bets there will be 20 losing results. Numbers 6,7 and 8 come up most often and they won't win you any money on this bet. Nor do 5 and 9 (the fourth most frequent results).

Betting On The Centre - Table Propositions

They can carry a casino advantage as high as 16%.

Big 6 And Big 8

These bets pay only even money, despite the fact that they work much the same way as Place Win bets on 6 and 8. Go for the Place Bets instead - they pay 7/6 odds. To put it another way: the house edge on Place Bets for 6 and 8 is only 1.52%, while on Big 6 and Big 8 it's 9.1%.

Hardways

Beware the Hardways bet - they don't call it hard for nothing. A Hardways bet on 4 or 10 has odds of 7 to 1 and a house edge of 11.11%. Hardways bets on 6 or 8 are 9 to 1 with a house edge of 9.09%. There are easier bets to make.

Right betting - Pass Line or Come (paid off at 1:1)

7 or 11 will win initially
Craps (that is 2, 3, 12) will lose initially
If the shooter rolls a point number (4,5,6,8,9,10) he must repeat that number before a 7 comes up in order to win the bet. The player may not remove his pass line or come bets once they are up on a number. Once they're established on a number they stay until they win or until they lose.

A player may also take odds on both the pass line and come bets (when a point number is rolled). Odds bets can be removed at any time. These are paid off at the true odds (no casino advantage whatsoever)
Odds bets pay off at
2:1 (if your point is 4 or 10)
3:2 (if your point is 5 or 9)
6:5 (if your point is 6 or 8)

Casinos will allow an odds bet which ranges from 1x your pass line bet up to 100x your passline bet (depending on the casino).

Wrong Betting - Don't pass / Don't Come (pay off at 1:1)
Every casino on the Don't pass line, and Don't come box will say either Bar 2, or Bar 12. That means those are a push on the come out..

Come out roll:
2, 3, 12 - win (2, or 12 is a push depending on if it says bar 2 or bar 12)
7, 11 - lose
4,5,6,8,9,10 - the player must roll a 7 before the number is repeated.. the player may remove his don't pass and don't come bets at any time once they are up on a number

The player can take odds on the both the don't pass and don't come bets when a point number is rolled and these are paid off at the true odds. However since the player has the best advantage after the come out he must lay the odds. That means if his point number is 4, he must place 2 dollars for every 1 dollar of his odds.
Don't odds are paid off at
1:2 (if your point is 4 or 10)
2:3 (if your point is 5 or 9)
5:6 (if your point is 6 or 8)

basically, it's based on rolling repeat numbers before rolling a 7 if you play the Pass Line.

The following rules are if you play the Pass Line. The come out roll is first. If you roll 7 or 11 on the come out roll, you win. If you roll 2,3, or 12 on the come out roll, you lose.
Now if the come out roll is 4,5,6,8,9,10, it is the point and you have to roll that number again before 7...if you roll a 7, you "seven" out and you lose. All of this is assuming your betting the pass line. Betting the don't pass line is opposite.

I suggest getting a computer program and practicing. Or read a book, then use the computer program, then go to the casino...and with some help from the dealers, you'll do fine.

Here's all the detailed gambling advice you can get. Every casino game played against the house (including crappes) is set against the player. You will lose 5 cents for every dollar bet in the average casino. (None give you favorable oddds, or they'd be out of business).
