To all of our friendly donuts and coffee cop-suckers on here... how many people did you manage to harass last night? write enough tickets to get that big bonus this year?

If cops are so useless then I imagine you won't bother calling 911 if someone breaks into your house.

I was on duty in central London dealing with the custody side of things. I got spat at 4 times, bitten once, had a woman try and kick me and was racially abused by a minor sporting celebrity(!!!).
I worked a 12 hour shift with only one 15 minutes break and as there was no mobile phone service in the custody area I was unable to wish my family a happy new year.

Drunks who want to fight the world and then lose control of their bladder and pervs who want to grope women at midnight are not my ideal choice of people to spend New Year with.

Do you think the pubs and clubs would even open on NYE if the donut eating coffee drinking police weren't out "Harassing people and writing tickets" (which we don't get any bonuses for!)
Without the police, your New Year would be limited to sitting in front of the telly watching Jools Holland!

Hmm...if someone broke into my house I'd have to say no, I wouldn't call the cops because they never bother to f*ing show up! And they pull you over for speeding and tack on an extra 10 mph when you're NOT drunk. I have never been in trouble with the law and everytime I"ve turned to cops for assistance they have either not shown up or done nothing to help...so eat another donut and don't respond to your calls, you'll be running for Mayor in no time.

Hey, map! If someone breaks into my house, I don't NEED a cop. I'm protected by my second amendment right to BEAR ARMS.

I agree with you, though... Many law enforcement agencies have forgotten the old adage "to protect and serve".

Now, it's "to reach my quota and keep my job".

I wrote enough citations last night to win a toaster oven on points. I think I'll save them until I have enough for the microwave.
I eat bagels btw. Donuts are unhealthy.

Why the hostility toward cops? Is it because they are charged with enforcing laws you don't like? Well, get busy and start a campaign to change the law, but don't pick on the guy who is putting his life on the line every time he puts on his uniform.

My college advisor was killed by a drunk driver.

I say THANK YOU to any police who prevented deaths last night.
