I have been told by several people (all of them devout Christians who attend church and bible study on a regular basis) that interracial relationships are a sin in the eyes of the lord. One woman in particular also explained that, since blacks and whites go to separate places after death, they're not supposed to unite in terms of relationships here on earth during this life. My guess is that these views have much more to do with racial biases which these people have incorporated into their "christianity", and pretty much nothing at all to do with christian doctrine per se- but i could be wrong. Does anyone have any idea what they're talking about?

I don't know why anyone let alone Christians would tell anyone that inter racial dating is a sin and that God divides Heaven. I have been a Believer for most of my life, attended a Christian university, hosted and attended Bible studies, gone to seminars, and raised a minister for the Lord. During this time I have read the Bible through on more than one occasion and studied for myself various topics. One thing I would encourage you to do, seek for yourself and don't rely on the opinion of a few. If by some chance they are using the pat phrase of not being unequally yoked. (2 Corintians 6:14-Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.) That has nothing to do with race, color, or creed but faith, and that too is between them and the Lord alone.Too many times Christians put their own ideas and thoughts on the same level as God. Then they decide to play God and cast judgment. How sad. If there is someone you love and loves you in return God's blessings on you both. Happy and Blessed New Year

All humans are one species. Skin pigmentation does not account for a new species. Instead you are talking of the different races. Also, 99.5 is a GIANT miscalculation on your part. Most people can be and are attracted to people of other races. As for your ending question, i have only heard of two cases in recent history(ergo: the past three years) and both of the parties accusing interracial relations as a sin were over 80 and had come from affluencent, slave owning family's, who still clung to the belief that "white" was the superior race.

Well I do not think we will go to hell because God loves all of his creations. But, I do think that races need to unite. If every race started to mix there would only be a human race. I mean everyone would look the same. There would be no White, Chinese, Indian and Black race. On that note I believe races should stay together. We are all beautiful people on God's earth. God did not make anything the same on this planet. Every living thing has a mate to preserve their species. I do not think it is racist. There is no right or wrong answer just opinions to this question.Only the creator can answer this.

In the Old Testament there are scriptures which show that God wasn't pleased in some cases when Israel mixed with other peoples and started to worship their gods. I personally think (and this is my own very personal opinion about it and I don't want to create a doctrine by stating this) that God's concern in these scriptures was his pure worship. Israel was/is God's chosen people in the sense that they had/have a special commission to carry the Truth to all nations. Doesn't make them any better or more worthy than anybody else, it's just what they have to do. Thus God wasn't really worried about the actual mixing with other peoples but about the mixing of religions. If Israel forsakes their role of spreading the true Gospel, others can't get saved.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe that women told you that LOL! She needs to read her bible more before giving out biblical advice. First of all it's only a sin if you marry someone of a different religion, which back in bible days it usually meant a different race. All Christians black, white, red, brown etc... go to the same place the only other option is hell. There are no segregated heavens LOL! I know there are a lot of holier then thou Christians out there. You just have to be careful and read the bible yourself and come to your own conclusions. That being said Moses was Jewish/white and was married to and Ethiopian woman/black. God never told him it was wrong all the while he was traveling leading God's people. This Ethiopian woman believed in the same God Moses did. That's why it was ok for them to marry. Usually the Ethiopian race followed pagan god's. I hope I cleared things up for you. Next time though read up in your bible before just taking someone else's word over it. Especially if it's something God has layed on your heart that it's not right. May I also suggest you find another church. God bless!

No it is not a sin. I live in the South and grew up thinking that it was. A lot of people will quote the "Do not be unequally yoked" verse as their reason for it. But that verse only describes relationships with those who are believers and those who are unbelievers. I would say to be careful if you or someone you know is choosing this route because of differences that may arise in the relationship, but they don't have to destroy it. Oh and not all of us Christians are the same, just thought I'd add that for those who group us all together.

Oh boy. Look, when God was creating (actually refurbishing) the earth for flesh man, on the 6th day He created men and women of all the races; He looked on His creation and saw that it was very good. There is nothing whatsoever in the Scriptures that suggest that it is a sin to marry another race. nothing at all.
These people are teaching false doctrine. Stay away from them.
Do you see why Christ states that upon his return, he will visit the churches first? Judgement starts at the pulpit. Those so-called christians will be among those who Christ will take the support beam holding up their "church" and pull it out so that the building falls right on top of their empty heads. You are free in Christ, and if any Church, and i don't care what they call themselves - if they teach false doctrine, they are not of Christ.
These folks are so far from the Truth that its pathetic. Don't listen to anything they have to say. God says many, many times that if anyone teaches false doctrine, know that I did not send them.

There's something VERY wrong about the people you talk to. Seriously. VERY wrong.

Christianity has nothing to do with being racist, I am protestant myself although probably not a devout Christian. What these people tell you has nothing to do with the bible or anything, that´s like Islamists misinterpret the Coran to justify terrorism (Muslims don't!).

Everything these people told you is a great big bunch of ... and they should be ASHAMED and definitely not consider themselves Christian if that's the point of view they represent. Christianity is about people being equal, loving thy neighbour etc.

Have these people ever read the bible or just listened to some weirdo preaching whatever he interprets into it?

It could be:
Dating itself can be a sin if your motives or actions are wrong.

We are only to marry another Christian, so if they are not born again people that would be a sin.

If you are doing it in rebellion against an authority like parents or church leadership it would be sin.

If you are in an area where it could create real problems for your children in the future. Remember "love does no harm, therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

However if none of these are issues then Biblically it would stand up. It sounds like your "friends" at church have some extra bias there and certainly some ignorance of Scriptures.

People who think that blacks and whites go to different places after death are very ignorant. Racial differences are only skin deep. They only have to do with pigment. We are all part of one human family. I'm sure all of us have some ancestry from different races, even if we don't know about it. People have been mixing for thousands of years.

Besides, it's healthy to marry people from different races because then the child's genes will be more diverse.
