sounds like a migraine.

do they last ages? if they do its a migraine

i used to get them alot.
i find that citrus friuts (oranges lemons limes) set them off in me so i avoid them.
is there a food you always eat before you get them?

it could also be down to stress. or if you strain your eyes like reading lots of small print or using a computer for ages everyday.

i find laying in a dark room helps.

If they come on suddenly and are really painful, lasting a couple of hours or so, then they are probably tension headaches or cluster headaches, most headaches are not a sign of anything more serious, especially if they are not accompanied by other symptoms. If it is just a headache and nothing else, the best thing you can do is just to lie down in a darkened room until it passes, take paracetamol or something similar, and drink plenty water, as dehydration is a cause of headaches. For more info on types of headaches and how to treat them see http://www.headachetest.co.uk or http://www.headaches.org - these explain the symptoms of the different types of headaches.

If you get them more towards the end of the day it might be worth going to see your optician. Frontal headaches can sometimes mean you need some glasses.

If you see flashing lights and/or feel sick when you get them it may be migraine.

If you keep getting headaches, you need to see a doctor - but one of the first things they will do is ask you to go and see an optician.

I would keep a journal about your headaches. When you get them, what you've eaten, if you skipped meals, lack of sleep, not drinking enough fluids, are you congested (could be allergies), if you have your period (hormones). I would also make an apt. with your doc. & get a check-up. As you can see there are many variables which might give you headaches. Your doc will be asking you the same questions, so you will be prepared to answer them. You could be having migraines. :)

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

I think constant headaches are a good reason to see a doctor. As well, about your eye, I think you should get that checked out.

Basically they mean 'go to doctors'
Worrying makes headpain of any sort worse, so go to the doctor and have it checked and set your mind at rest.
