The question is pretty straightforward. Especially after I moved, I don't know many people at all, and a lot of previous relationships have deteriorated. Anyone ever had this situation?

Have a small wedding, use the money you saved and put in on a house for a downpayment.

Big weddings are such a waste of money--my opinion.

Welcome to my world...kinda.

I have a small family & few friends after a move over the summer. My fiance, on the other hand, has a HUGE family (59 people in the close family alone). Looked pathetic to my, oh, 11 people.

Just for balancing reasons I had to look around at what I had. I invited some inlaws of my family members who I knew pretty well. Also, doesn't hurt to get back in contact with some people you cared about. "Hey, I'm getting married" is a pretty decent opening line. Just build on what you can, but do't just randomly invite people you hardly know, that's a waste in m y opinion. But use this as a chance to reopen some closed doors.

Co-workers, try to rekindle those previous relationships with the wedding invite, only with theirs personalize it a little bit. Previous class-mates, etc... or just go to a popular club a few nights before get really wasted and invite everyone there.

a small wedding that is special and meaningful is just as memorable a a big shindig. (we went very small -- had 5 people there--us, 2 friends and the priest)You can still be as formal as you want.

Tell your current friends to bring two or three of their own friends aside from their dates. And invite your neighbors. Soon you will have a lot of acquaintances who have the potential to be friends.
