Obviously the trolls with the pornographic avatars and mindlessly hostile questions targeting specific religions are bad trolls, but where do we draw the line in the sand? Should those like the WSIDR have to go too? or the folks who post jokes to lighten people up a bit? Or the ones who post poetry and songs? What do YOU personally consider a troll to be?

I think you just summed it up pretty well, Endora.

my_karma_ran_Over_your_do makes a good point, too.

we have to realize that there are children on here and try to keep it clean. the pornographic avatars, adult language, insulting of other users, do need to go. and YA is instigating a control system that will be a big help. I do not mind the idiot question, chatting, or jokes, and poetry, as long as the language is respectful. the hostile question about religion do not bother me, it promotes some good interaction, and I do disagree with reporting someone who disagrees with me, or you.
a troll to me is the ones that just get on trying to insult, or provoke and they do it to all the different groups.

Obviously not at jokes, spamming is worse than trolling IMHO, have as light a touch as possible, some people take offense much too easily, freedom of speech is important.

The idiot currently posting at the moment for example only suceeds in making himself look bad.

hey endora, you are right, people using the answers community to ask questions shouldn't be making jokes unless they are in the jokes & riddles section. the WSIDR is a great example of that, nothing against him, but he asks his jokes in the religion and spirituality section. in fact, i haven't seen him for 2 weeks. but anyway, i consider a 'troll' to be someone who harrasses other users of the yahoo! answers community.

I think I'll only count the obvious trolls and stop there. But I love the point you are making about some of these people.

Trolls and troublemakers are often mistaken for eachother.

Troublemakers ask provocative questions, but usually because they genuinely seek an answer, or are trying to get people to think about the issue.

Trolls just start fights that they never had to, because it amuses their tiny little minds.

Personally I don't care what anybody puts in here. I've learned that people are going to do what they want to do and that they can only smurf me off if I let them, so I generally ignore some stuff, have fun with other stuff and report the outright hate posts.

There are two kinds of trolls, good ones and bad ones. I am a good one and I live under a bridge and I have no pornographic avatar and my questions are not hostile necessarily.

Please do not condemn us good trolls cause of the bad ones. Thank you.

Someone who continuously writes disrespectful, offensive words about any individual or group of individuals. Frequently answers questions with vulgar, insulting remarks to the asker. Is this a trick question?

I would only go with the obviously bad ones. Everyone should be able speak.
