I disagree about the pc and even the tv
My daughter LOVES computer games.
Crafts:
Markers, crayons, paints. My 2 year old loves painting. Michaels or AcMoore sells great little things to paint. Little terracotta pots, small boxes, ornaments etc.
Make little masks out of paper plates.
Go to your local library, many have baby and toddler time stories and crafts.
Take a walk, little ones are fascinated by every little thing. Every leaf, bug, etc is interesting. Go to the park, creek, and lift up rocks and get a little magnifying glass and watch the ants at work.
Classical music is great for little ones, just dance and be silly
TOYS
Blocks - or those stacking cups. Little ones LOVE knocking down towers, and stacking them up
Shape sorters are fun for them too.
Basketball.
Helping in the house:
Unloading the dryer, or matching socks
Familyfun magazine has a lot of fun ideas.

Well, there are 2 ways you can do this. But in both ways, a routine..or play plan for the day is needed.

The first way is give him/her toys or other things to play with.Turn on a channel with cartoons, toddler shows or a movie after the kiddo has gotten bored with the toys and so on.

The second is to put them to work with you, having them help with whatever you are doing. Then when they get bored with that..move on to toys, then maybe a snack(have them help u make it)..then move on to a movie. Then back to work with you.
With the toys, pull out just a 2 or 3 at a time.Like crayons first(or a magnadoodle..a 1 yr old may eat crayons) then when he/she gets tired of that..then pull out a couple of toys. Then a couple more when they seem tired of the ones they are playing with and put away the previous ones,so that you can pull them out again later...lol..it will be like a new toy again.lol Keep repeating that.

What you DON'T want to do:
1) Introduce the TV
2) Introduce the PC
3) Introduce any type of gaming

What you DO want to do:
1) Talk to them about anything and everything (kids "sponge in" everything you say, even though they don't yet understand the vocabulary, it's still very important)
2) Take them out to different places and always bring your camera with you to create memories.
3) Take them anywhere where they can see animals: zoo, petting zoo, the park where ppl bring their pets: kids love animals.
4) Take them to where there are other children @ their age with their parents. Kids love other kids.
5) Always, always, always, always, interact with them. This is KEY. You don't want to hold them, feed them, change them, without positive verbal communication. They NEED to HEAR the tone of your voice, see the expression on your face. Make eye contact when you interact. It's so imporatant that most parents take for granted. This will be encoded in their subconsciousness and will be "transferred" into their consciousness.
Good luck and peace!
