I have been taking pronotix for five weeks now for acid reflux. It worked great until the other day. Now I have a upset stomach again (but not as bad as before). I started with prilosec but that didn't work until I went to pronotix.
I ate something I should not have the other day and have been having problems ever since. Has anyone had this problem? Will it start to work again?

I took acid reflux prescriptions for a couple of years, but had episodes once in awhile anyway, usually not long before it was time to take another pill. Then my doctor said she would not renew the prescription unless I came in for an examination. I didn't want to spend the money, so I just let the prescription run out.

As soon as I stopped taking the medication (which may have been Protonix; that was either the first one or the second one), I stopped having episodes! I had already given up coffee and other acidy foods, and was eating rather conservatively. Apparently the only reason I was having episodes while I was taking the medication was the feedback that occurs when the medication wears off.

Ask your doctor whether you should simply discontinue the thing, and see what you get. But you will have to modify your diet.

Try Zantac. Protonix is a proton pump inhibitor and Zantac is probably safer for a pregnant woman. My daughter is 9 months pregnant and takes 2 Zantac 150's a day. Her doctor says it is perfectly safe. Good luck.

If you feel that protonix is not working. Ask for Prevacid that may help
