There will probably be a warrant out for you and if you go to the police station you may be held in custody until the next morning when you will be taken to court.
I would 'phone the police and if you have to go in make it 6am and you will go to court that morning.

Well you would've had 7 days to produce your documents. You don't state if you actually went to the police station and produced anything, but if you weren't insured anyhow it's likely that you would have got a fine and 6 points on your licence.

It's worth noting, that your girlfriend is also committing an offence of knowingly letting an uninsured person drive her vehicle. So make a point of not putting her in that position again. You were lucky the police didn't seize the vehicle, which is what happens in a lot of places.

You need to sort this out ASAP as the police will catch up with you. You say that you've changed your address, so it could be that you have been notified of proceedings and haven't received the letter. If there was a fine to pay and it hasn't been paid (regardless of whether you knew about it) there will be a warrant out for you. Although you'll be able to explain to the police that you moved, it won't stop them arresting you and you having to spend a few hours in a cell whilst it's sorted out.
It's a new year, start it by sorting out any leftover business which could impede your peace of mind.
Go to your nearest police station and they will check the computer to see if you are shown as having a warrant for your arrest, if you don't - explain the circumstances and set the ball rolling.
Remember, take shoulder numbers and names of all police officers that you speak to so that you have a record of your course of action.

I'd just go to your local police station and explain. My mate got pulled over for the same thing - he bought a 2nd hand car and the same day got stopped, but had not yet sorted out his insurance. He got a 12 month ban(!)

A similar thing happened to me - had a producer, didn't produce as had some major family problems and I totally forgot.

I had a car accident, and when I was applying for a courtesy car via my insurance company, they discovered that my driving licence had been revoked! Without my knowledge!

Sort it out now before its too late.

Take the producer thing into your local cop shop. Just cos you changed address doesnt mean they wont find you, its better to give yourself up then get arrested!
