why do i have picture but no sound playing on my portable dvd player when i hook it to the tv?

have an rca drc 627n and it works fine until i hook it up to the tv. i can see the picture but there is no sound playing on the tv. the sound comes through the dvd player.

Yes i hooked up the proper av cables and it still doesn't work

Do you have an audio cable going from the headphone jack to the TV?

Remember, the composite, s-video or component cables are video cables and do not transmit audio.
