I've tried with no luck.

I am specifically looking for tuna mixes from places like Greggs. I've tried tuna (with brine) with mayo, which is disgusting. These sandwich shops also cost a fortune. Any help you provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanking you for your help and Happy New Year!

:-)

Hey Guys,

Thanks but I'm really looking for plain Tuna Mixes like you get out of Greggs - not the Tuna Crunch or Tuna Sweetcorn but PLAIN Tuna Mayo.

Your recipes are interesting but I have no need for these. I reiterate that Tuna in Brine is not an option but thanks anyway.

:-)

I always use the tuna in brine as it's less greasy and put it with mayo, I then chop up onion very finely and add sweetcorn, mix together and make the sandwiches tastes great.

Use tuna packed in water. Open can/package, drain water. If you have tuna packed in oil, drain oil and rinse with cold water while the tuna is still in the can.

Mix with fine chopped onion, fine chopped celery, 1/2 finely chopped hardboiled egg, real mayo. Light mayo on bread, lettuce, tomato, slice of cheese.

Wallah! A great sandwich.

I only use Albacore tuna or at the very least an all white fillet tuna, generally use that packed in water, drain it very well. I mix it with Miracle whip and sometimes put in boiled egg whites. I never use celery or onions as I do not like that texture. I have mine on whole wheat bread, sometimes toasted. Sometimes I squish potato chips in it too! Yum! I NEVER eat tuna from a sandwich shop.

I work in GREGGS and the secrets in the mayo . It's not like the stuff you by in the shops it's more creamy tasting so you'll never match it . Its just tuna and mayo you have to drain the tuna.

If you buy the oil- add lemon juice. Here's one from Gourmet magazine. Enjoy!

For tuna salad
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 (6-oz) cans light tuna packed in olive oil, drained
1/2 cup chopped drained bottled roasted red peppers
10 Kalamata or other brine-cured black olives, pitted and cut lengthwise into strips
1 large celery rib, chopped
2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
1 (20- to 24-inch) baguette
2 tablespoons olive oil
Green leaf lettuce

Make tuna salad: Whisk together mayonnaise and lemon juice in a large bowl. Add remaining salad ingredients and stir together gently. Season with salt and pepper.
Assemble sandwiches: Cut baguette into 4 equal lengths and halve each piece horizontally. Brush cut sides with oil and season with salt and pepper. Make sandwiches with baguette, lettuce, and tuna salad.

Makes 4 servings.

Stick to tuna in water, mix it with some mayo, sweetcorn, peppers and red onion.
If you like toasted/pressed add some cheese.

Tuna gives me heart burn but i absolutely enjoy Greggs chicken with mayonnaise and sweetcorn(optional) mix.I buy fresh chicken legs or thighs, throw them whole into a big pot with lots of water, a little seasoning and just leave it to boil until the meat is falling of off the bone, i drain it out, put it in a large spacious dish and use my masher to mash to a pulp, add mayonnaise, a little chillie if you want and then sweetcorn, again if you want, it is absolutely scrumptious!

Try getting tuna in sunflower oil instead of brine, or in water, that way it wont ruin the taste. Add Mayo and get some fresh bread, and enjoy! :)
