Make a list of all the things you need to achieve to be in comfort zone by the time you are your father’s age. Now you will have some idea as to what sort of position you should be in to afford to achieve your goals. Today an MBA degree is considered an even playing field. Tomorrow PhD and perhaps higher specialization degrees may become the need of the hour for you. You need to sail through the SSC, which is just the first step of your journey. Once the significance of the situation sinks into your conscious you will discover your own methods of staying focused on your studies. Trust me on this one my friend. No amount of advice from Tom, **** or Harry can work better for you than your own methodologies. Go for your goals and you will fly past the SSC and when that happens studies become interesting.

1) Lock yourself in your room and study there.
2) Hang a sign requesting for no disturbance.
3) Pray and study.
4) Put clocks everywhere so, when you look away to be distracted, you remember that minutes and seconds are passing.
5) Get friend's or family member's help and support.
6) Make sure you're not studying in bed.
7) Don't make the room too dark.
Good luck!!!! Study hard. Your future depends on it. That's why we Asians are the taking over the Americans' jobs, even in Amaerica itself.

If you want to be a good student, then think about what a typical good student does and make yourself do it. You CAN concentrate on your studies--it just has to be important enough for you to choose to do, despite any feelings of frustration, boredom or other.

Focus on one thing at a time. Turn off all televisions, computers, stereos, Xbox, etc. as these are all distractions. Go to the library or a nice quite place to study, one thing at a time.

It depends on what lies beyond that mountain. Every step will lead you beyond that mountain, but then it all must not go in vain. Its not always that the toughest of challenges gives you the best of results. You have to know what lies behind that mountain, and only climb if its worth it. PS: Not always should you climb the mountains; sometimes its good to use the valleys.
