There are still some people who do. I think society is now questioning everything and wondering why there were any rules or guidelines in the first place. A lot of the guidelines were made for our own health and well being. A lot of the guidelines were just someones own interpretation of what is right and what is wrong. The pendulum has swung far to the left in morality which is to be expected when old beliefs and guidelines are being tested. Perhaps it will swing again and hopefully stop in a more healthy position.

Probably because people aren't getting married nearly so young. When people got married at thirteen or fourteen years old, waiting until then to have sex wasn't too much to ask.
There is, of course, no reason why virginity should be cherished.

This is a weird question?
What you looking for?
Who are you asking about?
Cherished Virginity is mostly a religious concept.
Today's society has little respect for the religious because of all the perversion within.

What is virginity really? Just the 1st time you have sex. In the past, people were married and pregnant by 13. What was their value of virginity?

I think the word virginity is used in the wrong meaning. If you want to be a Virginie don't toutch any human till you are married which is very difficult nowadays. That's all

Sex was revered and seen as an act of love, not just between two married couples but between a boyfriend and girlfriend, or a girlfriend and girlfriend or boyfriend and boyfriend, people didnt like babies being born out of wedlock so they made rules saying you cant have sex before marriage.

I know Islam vaules virginity until marriage as you can be punished(not real sure how) if your not a virgin when your married. And Muslims don't have to worry about STDS and teen pregnancies.

Over time birth control, and the media (TV, movies) made being chaste something of a joke. Too many young people have found it's a lie; that indulging in sex whenever they please and with whomever they please not only crushes your spirit, it can ruin your life.
There is nothing lost that God cannot restore. A person can always come back to the Lord and He will give back purity and virtue.

Morals, ethics, and values all change. Especially now that people aren't letting religion guilt them into doing (or not doing) something that's pretty natural.
