Only if they aint copywritten which most are! Keep in mind, the site is legal! Its the file sender and receiver that are breaking the law! To begin with, only a FOOL lets a total stranger send files to his PC!

Limewire is a completely legal program.

Downloading songs from bands is ILLEGAL.

Fact: Limewire comes with spyware when you install it.

Your choice to use it or not. extremely rarly does anyone get in trouble for using Limewire illegally, but about 80% of users have messed up computers, at least in the end.

Babe, its simple. If you were an actress, or singer, would you want people getting your music for free? Paying for the songs gives money to the artists and keeps food on their tables. well, that's what limewire does. Limewire robs them of this. Owning limewire is perfectly legal. but downloading protected music isn't. So, its technically not illegal, but it does keep food from getting to their tables at night.

It is not legal to use Limewire to steal copyrighted music. Basically, if it is a software, a song or a movie that you would normally purchase in a store for money and you are downloading it for free; you would be in violation of the law.

It is rare, but people can and do get fined large amounts by the RIAA and the MPAA for copyright infringement. The amount of the fines is in the several thousand dollar range and the RIAA has sued people as young as 12 years old.

yes, Limewire is legal...the content that you download, however, usually is not. any copyrighted work that you do not have permission to download would be illegal (and that is MOST of the Limewire content). That said, there are places where you can legally download music...the most useful i've found is www.archive.org/details/audio

LimeWire isn't illegal. Using it is... if you're in a nation that has modernized laws with laws on computers and digital stuff. If you're in the middle of Africa, who cares if you download a song?

I hate copyright.

Downloading music is always ilegal if you aren't paying for it. However will you get busted... not very likely? Also I think they tend to go after those people that leave there songs accessible to others. i.e. if you are prettuy tight, you can simply download the songs you want and take them out of teh limewire shared folder so they are no longer accessible to others, therefore people can't copy from your machine.
