And do you find it annoying?

They have this seemingly endless list of foods that they have deemed unworthy for human consumption. And if they happen to be around someone who is eating or preparing one of those foods, they will deliberately gag, choke, and pretend to vomit--and make comments about how bad the food is and why they don't like it.

Personally, I think this immaturity at its worst.

I am not bothered by picky eaters in general, just the ones who deliberately (note my use of the word deliberately) make a scene when someone else eats one of their "unworthy" foods. Believe it or not, even I have foods that I don't like. Cole slaw is an example of this. But if someone is serving or eating cole slaw, I just politely decline it and/or let the people who like it enjoy eating it. Because that's the way we act in a civilized society.

I have noticed, and I agree with you that it's immaturity at its worst. The way I handle it (since my favorite sandwich seems to illicit such a response) is by telling them, "Thank you for your input, but this is a food I enjoy. If you don't like it, that's not my problem, so please refrain from acting like your 6, not ." Not alway the nicest way of going about it, but it gets your point across in no uncertian terms and it will typically shut them the heck up!

Very bad manners. I think there are gagable foods, such as liver, but I pretend it's good stuff if I'm at someone elses house. I would never say anything about what someone is making unless it was unsafe, or I had an allergy to it. I grew up in Alaska where the natives take great offence if you don't eat whatever you are offered. I have tasted some VERY interesting things.

I have no problem with picky eaters. They have a right to their likes and dislikes - depends how they were conditioned as they grew up. I do, however, am definitely not impressed when they have to be verbal and demonstrative about it. Like in many other circumstances, they should keep their comments and gestures to themselves. So they don't like LIVER - big deal! there are a lot of people who like many differrent (and healthy) organ foods. I went through a phase in my life when I simply would not tolerate certain foods. When I realized this was a put-on thing that didn't impress anyone - I now find many of these same foods are now favourites.

I am a rather picky eater, but I certainly don't gag, choke or pretend to vomit - that is nasty, impolite and certainly immature.

My list of things I don't eat consists of some things I just don't like the taste of. Even though most people don't get it: I don't like tomatoes. Not kidding. I just don't. Get in touch with my tastebuds for further information.

So if there's tomato salad on the table, I won't take any. If somebody prepared a meal with cooked tomatoes in it (or in the sauce), I'll eat that, of course - as you don't "taste" the tomatoes between all that other stuff. :)

If somebody behaves like that, ask them to leave and play outside. Refuse to cook for them. That kind of behaviour IS immaturity at its worst. It´s bad manners, that's all.

PS: Why are you asking if you know the answer? ;)

Total bad manners. If you know you are a picky eater, walk with your own food or stay home. Why spoil someone's evening because you have issues. Some people need to be more open about food. Unless it is against my religion, for health reasons or just gross I wil eat anything.

Why should I put up with a person who only eats food if they are not touching each other, but they can't put up with me serving potato salad for example.

What you are describing is extremely rude, tasteless, and juvenile behavior. I love to cook, and my own mother will do this sometimes if she does not like something that I prepared. I cannot tell you how offended it makes me feel! I have another friend who only eats pizza and pasta, but who will make a great show of pushing food around on his plate while pretending to eat it! When did we learn to forget the words, "I'm sorry, but I do not like this. Would you mind if I ate something else. I can prepare it myself if that's ok!"

We are all entitled to our likes and dislikes, but grow up! Not everyone is the same!

So, yes, I have noticed the behavior, and it really annoys me.

Most of the people I deal with- even those with picky eating habits- aren't that immature, thank heavens. If they were, they wouldn't be worth my time. It's usually when people unnecessarily go to extremes about food that I get a tad miffed- like when a vegan decides to play food police around people enjoying ice cream made with real milk, for instance. And in some rare cases, given foods can indeed be highly offensive to those around them- like curry or boiled cabbage, for instance.

Onions are good and contribute greatly to food dishes, yet some dislike raw onion, but will eat cooked onion. When people will not eat a food, because their parents did not like that food, it's not in their genes, but in their need to be like their parents. We have no time for picky eaters. Live and let live, so keep the negative comments about food to themselves.

This isn't a very big problem really. I have been able to kick them hard enough so far that everyone of them has landed in the street on the first bounce.

Seriously, it is very annoying but this sort never gets another invitation. My kids have learned to eat what is on the table or wait for the next meal. Makes no difference to me, if they don't eat, it's just more for me.

Yeah I know some of "those" kind of people and they usually only make those comments, faces, noises to me but once .... well because they don't like me anymore and don't hang around, because I told them to go %#$@ themselves, if they don't like it, don't eat it, but don't tell me I can't.

I told them if they don't like what I'm cooking or eating ... fine .. they have the right to leave ... they did. I've been torn up about it ever since .. yeah right.

Yes the health Nazi's think they know whats best for the rest of the population and would love nothing more than impose their will on all of us.
