It all depends on your specialty and your length of enlistment. I have a friend who just joined the Army.
She was given the choice of one job, it came with a huge enlistment bonus but an immediate deployment to Iraq.
She took another job, small bonus but with no overseas deploy for the first two years.
Talk to your recruiter, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!!

Yes it is a good chance you could see Iraq. Many lifetimes ago, I joined the Navy cause Viet Nam draft was active and I was on the list to get called up. I became a Navy Corpsman and guess what???
Ended up with the Marines, great bunch of guys, in a place called Camp Holloway in the Republic of Viet Nam.
At least now it is all volunteer military and the great thing about Air Force, you are less likely to be in the thick of things.
Serve proudly and thank you for wearing the Uniform.

It depends on your job. My son has been in the USAF over ten years and never been to Iraq. If they need your job specialty there you will be sent regardless of gender.

The jobs that get sent to Iraq, specialty forces (cops), civil engineering, communications, think what you jobs you would need to make and run a base over there. If you don't want to go, talk to someone who's been in awhile and see what jobs don't typically deploy.

Men and women are stationed in Iraq equally according to their unit. It has nothing to do with gender.
There are many women on the list of those who have been killed in Iraq. They aren't necessarily supposed to be in combat positions, butjust driving through the city is dangerous....

It depends on your job. I've been in for 7 years and never been deployed or TDY. So it really depends on your job and where you are stationed. Also, if you are stationed at a base where they deploy alot than yes!

Yep. The Air Force is an expeditionary service. You can count on spending time in the desert if you enlist.
