I received a new 20" TV for christmas. In the week since I put it up and started using it, it has randomly shut itself off 4 times, looking like the picture tube has blown. It has worked again after giving it about 30 seconds, shutting it off and turning it back on. My mother who bought it kept it in a warm place before she gave it to me, but when she had it on layaway, they may have kept it in an outdoor trailer. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem or should I just exchange it for a new one? Its a Magnavox if brand may be a factor. Thank you very much in advance.

Since it was a xmas gift, did your mom get a gift receipt for it? If so take it back and exchange it. Otherwise if your mom only has the receipt only then ask her to take it back. If not call magnavox it is still under warranty.

Zenith is a brand that uses modules and the modules are in the area of $100 -$200 plus labor to diagnose which module to change, replacement and alignment can run $100- $150 dependent upon the screen size. I think you get the picture, you've got your monies worth out of this TV. You may find a shop that does free estimates and may times the shop has many good used ones to trade you into for the same amount you would spend on this one.

Sounds like a crowbar circuit in the power supply. If still under warranty, contact Magnavox.

Check to see if the sleep mode is on. Other than that I don't know.
