Call your vet. It does not sound good. I would also wash your hands after handling the dog.

First and foremost, take the dog to the vet. Your dog is probably going to need some form of eye drop/cream, and possibly an antibiotic.

This is hard to answer because I don't know if it could be caused by the age of the dog (when they get older their eyes dry out a little easier and this can occur)or what breed it is (bulgy eyed breeds such as Pugs and Boston Terriers are accustomed to this kind of thing).

It could be a form of conjunctivitis, or the effects of some other ongoing issue such as the dreaded kennel cough. If you have a long haired dog, sometimes if the hair around the eyes is not groomed properly, the hair around the eye will irritate the cornea and cause infection or irritation. Another possibility is allergies. Allergies also cause excess eye gunk, so if you've recently changed your dogs diet, that may be the case. It's also a possibility that your pooch got something in his/her eye and it scratched the cornea. A green/yellowish discharge is one of the prominent signs of a scratch.

If you can't afford to get to the vet right away, try using a little bit of REGULAR saline solution (make sure it isn't the kind of cleaner that the contacts sit in for 4 hours, REGULAR SALINE) and rinse out his/her eyes 2-3 times a day.

I hope this was a little helpful for you.

It's not "puss", it's "pus", and YES! It's an infected eye. It need a prescription antibiotic ointment you can only get from a vet. The sooner the better, as it could affect the eye sight. Also, it's contagious, so it can Be spread to other dogs. Good hygiene is essential!

Green puss always signifies an infection - so your dog definately has some kind of infection in his eyes or possibly worse. Definetely wash your hands after touching him and take him to the vet ASAP.

Good luck!

because you didn't take the dog to the vet before the puss started in. your dog has a nasty infection and one that should have been apparent before the pus appeared. take your dog to the vet, the dog can go blind if not treated. don't put any drops in your dog's eye until it has been seen the wrong drops can make the problem worse.

Sounds like an infection. Try keeping the eye clean by wiping it away with a warm cloth. Don't reuse the same area on the cloth though, use a clean spot with each swipe. Also try some polysporin eye drops. You can get them at the drug store. If they don't work, you may need something stronger from a Vet.

Call the vet tomorrow and get some eye ointment. Your dog has a infected tear duct.
