It metastasized to her brain, but they shrunk the tumors with radiation. What I want to know is, is it possible to have cancer in your lymph nodes and not anywhere else? They have looked EVERYWHERE for the origin of the cancer, but cannot find it,

Your MIL doesn't necessarily have lymphoma but probably a type cancer called metastatic cancer of unknown primary. Any metastasis from this type cancer would show up in the lymph nodes and as brain mets but the primary cancer might be undetectable even on MRI or PET scans. Primary cancers can be so tiny as to be undetectable but the metastasis from a tiny primary might not be small and will be much more easily detected. In general, cancer with an unknown primary carries an unfavorable prognosis. my best to you and your MIL.

Yes, lymphoma.

It is possible to have cancer start in almost any part of the body. Very common in older men is prostate cancer. Very common in women is breast cancer. Some few cells started growing out of control - that's cancer. If the cells move from where they started, that's metastasis.

Best of health to your mother-in-law,

;-)

It's not only possible, but partakes in many people and it's called Lymphoma.

Do a Google search for Lymphoma. You'll learn much.
