Certainly cremation is an option. Some think that it is not scriptural to cremate a person, but thats not true. It is fine. Whether you cremate the body or you bury it, it doesn't really matter, because as the scripture says "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". So, your loved one isn't with the body anyway - he's already with the Father.
Some people choose cremation because it is alot cheaper than burial. I cremated my daughter 2 yrs ago, and I am a disiplined student of Gods Word; if it was against any statute of God, I would not have done it. So yes, whichever you decide, is fine.

So sorry for your loss. I would suggest that you approach a funeral home and discuss your options. Cremation, generally speaking, is less expensive than burial. Did your relative have any specific wishes about being cremated or being buried?
Who holds the Power of Attorney and/or is the Executor of the will...perhaps they have prepaid their funeral and then the question becomes moot.
Best of luck and good wishes to you at this most difficult time.

To look at it logically we all will turn to dust in due time, cremating just speeds up the process. My wish is to be cremated, for many reasons, not just financial

is this your decision alone? no family to help decide?
there is nothing wrong with cremation of that is your choice and lets face it, your loved one is not in that body any more, they have gone on to the next life and don't need that body any more.
if you they were a believer, the same God who made man from the dust can resurrect your loved one from the ashes

If you DO, then you can just store him on a shelf in your house or something.
But I honestly don't think this is a question for a YA board. Talk about it amongst your family, not an anonymous Internet community who's ready to tear each other's throat out. :)

Yes and then return the ashes to a moving body of water. Either a river or a ocean.
