You get your high school diploma when (if) you finish high school, usually at 18.

An associate degree (A.B.) is a two-year study program after high school.

A bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) is what you get after a four-year degree program.

A graduate degree is a master's or doctorate, which you can pursue after you have your bachelor's.

Mostly the requirements that are met. Some employers and institutes of higher learning use the level of education that you posses to rank candidates or as entrance criteria.

You get an Associates Degree in two years and a Bachelors Degree takes four. A BA is better than an AA. If you have a BS degree, that is the same amount of schooling as a BA, but it is in a different area. BA stands for Bachelor of Arts and a BS is Bachelor of Science.

High school = 12 years of education
Associate Degree = 14 years.
Bachelor's Degree = 16 years
Master's = 18 years
PhD = 20 years

Post doc can take as long as you like.

Coppersmi... was the most accurate, however, they left out the most critical part of obtaining the Doctorate's. This requires being "published" in addition to the graduate studies.
