I hear this alot from people who own Weimaraners.
It is their paws where the smell originates from.
Dogs do not sweat on their bodies but do in their paw pads. That is what you are smelling. Dog sweat.
They also pant to air cool themselves.
I have had about 10 people tell me they thought their dogs smelled like Fritos.

only when they eat or roll in a bag of fritos. if you are smelling this on your dog all the time, you might need to consult a vet. some diseases have an odor to them, although i've never heard of a corn chip smell, what you smell and what someone else smells might be different.

yes! thats funny cause i've thought the same thing before about my family's dog. my parents don't bathe her enough and she smells just like fritos and i just cant ever look at fritos the same way ya know.

I think it's a hound thing. My Bloodhound smells like them the whole time, or kind of like an old teddybear.

clean out the dogs ears. my bernard smells like nachos sometimes if i dont clean his ears for a while...ew!
