My kitten is only 7 months old but she is moaning and someone told me she is in heat. I thought she would be too young to go into heat yet. My other cat has just come out of heat. These two were always best friends, chasing eachother, sleeping together etc. But since the other one was in heat and has just ended she doesnt want to play with the kitten. she just hisses at her. I dont know if the kitten is in heat now or is she just moaning because she is sad because she misses the other cat. Help please

Your kitten can be in heat from the age of 4 months. If your cat hasnt mated, she will go into heat as soon as every two to three weeks, several times each year, until she either mates or is spayed. If you cant get your cat spayed then your vet may be able to give her pills (hormones) to stop her cycle. Your kitty will be in heat for one or two days at least. But she wont come out of it fully until you have her spayed.

Good luck!

I believe that a cat can go into heat around the months of 7 and up from what I heard. We had 3 females at one time and they all went into heat at the sametime. I know that they start meowing and crying all night so it sounds to me like your kitten is in heat or it could be both. She might be and she's proably upset that the other cat doesn't want anything to do with her. I mean I'm not sure since I'm not a vet but that's what I'm gathering from having female cats. My husband and I have 3 male cats now. 2 of them are fixed and we plan on getting the other one fixed. Watch for blood spots and if she keeps meowing and wanting to go outside then that's signs that she's in heat.

Cats are very different, some cats come in heat at 6 months;some come in heat at 9 months;and some are a year old before they come into heat.

well, it's not uncommon for a kitten to go into heat at 4 months, but the norm is usually about 6 months old. Males can go into heat a lot sooner, depending on the male to female ratio in your house, but they usually take longer to get into their cycles. As for your older kitty not liking your kitten, well DUH. she isn't a male, therefore why whould she want her around. And now that your kitten has gone into heat, cuz cats don't moan when their lonely (they will merow merow, but moaning is saved for an appeal to a male), your older cat will really hiss at her, cuz she's now competition. Get them fixed as soon as you can and you won't have to deal with it anymore.

The first heat does occur at 6 to 7 months. You'll want to get her spayed: That will avoid a LOT of discomfort for you both, as well as a chance of kittens you don't really want.

I just got a kitten about a month ago and was under the impression they go into heat anytime after 6 mos. I am planning to have her spayed and they told me 6 mos was the perfect time....just before they go into heat.

your cat definitely is probably in heat. Cats can go into heat as early as 4 months old. Get her spayed or she will drive you NUTS with all the noise

Most animal react this way boy or girl if one goes in heat the other will most likely be all over the other one and if it is a girl and a girl they will do this and if it is a girl and a boy they will do this but if it is a boy and a boy seperate them imediatly they could kill each other! Take my advice my mom and my dad are zooligist a( an animal scientist like Steve erwin)
