he constantly wants to go outside!!!
yesterday we left him to go outside to do his business on a leash, and he took off his collar himself, and ran down the street. and now he constantly wants to go outside. is it some kind of dog thing, around this time, like a mating period or something?

well my dad takes him on long walks every night!
and he goes out several times a day, when he sees squirrels he runs outside and up towards the trees. lol he loves going outside, but its REALLY cold out now, here, it was snwoing yesterday, so we cant let him stay outside. also, theres a pitbull next door, and if we leave him outside, he will be eaten alive lol.

I do not know of a time limit for having a dog neutered. So, I doubt that it is too late to consider this option.

Your dog may just be chasing the scent of a female in heat. Until he is neutered, this will be an on-going problem.

As for his wanting to spend time with you, that is a possibility. Is this the only way he gets your attention? He may have trained YOU, if that is the case.

If his collar is properly fitted, he should not be able to get it off himself. I had a problem with this with a dog I adopted from the pound and finally had to go to a harness in lieu of a collar. It gave more control during walks and helped re-establish me as the alpha, the one in charge.

Good luck!

A female doggie is probably in heat. Male dogs just want to go outside and have what they call f.u.n. or, in the other way like the E.X.T.R.A F.U.N. mabye.wow, that is kind of a good question. I put my dog on a chain for a couple of hours and a couple of weeks later I find out that she may be pregnant. Hmm, I wonder that this question was written HOW long ago?!

Is he neutered? If they aren't neutered they tend to want to pee on anything another dog or other animal has been. It shows their territory. My dog does the same thing, trying to get outside and he also got out yesterday. We have this stuff called bittere apple and it tastes really bad to dogs but its not bad for them. You can probably get it at most pet stores. I think there is a kind called bitter lime or lemon too.

Unless your dog is 13+ years old, it's never too late to neuter a male dog!

If he wants to go out all the time to urinate, chances are he's having an urinary tract infection. Get him to a vet ASAP..............it can be a simple infection, easily treatable by antibiotics. If you let it go, it could get into his blood stream, becoming life threatening!

Your dog is smelling a b*itch in heat. You may want to get him fixed so you wont have this problem.
