I was just wondering if this is normal.

Yes, it is normal, and the spotting can vary depening on when her heat begins.
Did you know, that by spaying her, you can STOP the bleeding altogether!!! Wow....what a concept!!!!
You obviously should not even be thinking about breeding her as you do not know the first thing about heats or female cycles.
Please spay her asap.

The heat cycle is three weeks long. There are special pad made for dogs so that the blood is not everywhere.

After her heat cycle ends, please, have her spayed.

I can't give you enough information here to help you understand and break down the cycle. Your best bet is to educate yourself. Buy a few books or check them out at the Library or go talk to a breeder. If you are going to be a dog owner you need to know what makes them tick.
