i currently have a 26, wondering if i should prep it and get a 28 or something

the act is designed to test you in such a way that you cant "cram" for it.

back in the early 90's i took it in my jr year and got a 29. in my sr year i got a 31. i didnt really study "for" the test, i just retook it. you will always do better the second time, due to less test anxiety.

get a good nights sleep, and eat a good breakfast the morning of the test. thats the best advice any one can offer.

You can try a prep, but the best thing is review basic grammar rules, know your math, make healthy choices the entire week before (like going to bed on time so you are alert at 8:00 a.m., eating good food instead of junk, getting exercise to get the blood flowing), and take the test again. You could raise it several points without the money for a prep class or program. Good luck!
