All wars are barbaric if we look at them rationally. That being said......
Most barbaric, in my opinion, are news stories such as the following (From West Darfur):
On Oct. 29, 300-500 Arab militiamen on horseback attacked 8 villages. They slaughtered 63 people, 33 of them children, 27 of them under the age of 12 years.
I don't even think "barbaric" provides a sufficient definition for this.

The war not fought with a true intent of winning. A half-hearted political gesture of a war. A war that is cuddly and non-violent, designed to not offend world opinion. THAT is the most barbaric war I can imagine.

The world wide islamic jihad against the civilized world is the most barbaric. Who besides muslims behead innocent tied up hostages and even kill their own children by sending them out as suicide bombers, telling them to not come home alive and to murder as many people as they can when they kill themselves?

It is hard to decide: The "war on terror" (horrible things are done in detention facilities by US soldiers) or the wars in Africa.
