Is there a such thing as an apathetic deist? I think I either that, or a borderline atheist.

Oh my bad, there, "Grammar Gestapo". Give me a break, I'm hungover. It meant "I'm" obviously. Grow up, you scrotum wipe.

Yes, it is a waste of time to pray and have pure doubt or disbelief in the heart. First one must eradicate the notion that God is capable of forgetting His infinite image and likeness. Once you have established the truth in your heart that God governs, cares, and loves His creation, including man (man being His infinite reflection), then you find doubt, fear, ignorance, and disbelief leave the heart and you find the link to God that has ALWAYS been there. You are then ready to pray and receive. Atheists can only be so for a season.

We may forget God and His goodness towards us .But the merciful and gracious God never forgets us even for a moment . Remember we are engraved in His palm .

You are not wasting your time in believing in God and praying.

Hope you'll like this poem.

PRAYER IS..........

Prayer brings peace to the restless,
It changes things you know.
The more you pray, the more your faith,
Will grow and grow and grow.

Prayer is sweet communion,
With a friend who really cares.
No matter what the problem is,
No matter when or where.

Prayer is like food to the hungry,
It fills an empty soul.
And then when the prayers are answered,
Your faith in God will grow.

Prayer is the key to Heaven,
Where the angels sing each day.
And when the door is open,
God is listening while we pray.

There is no power on earth, or anywhere,
that can stop Christians,
when we are on our knees in prayer with our Father!

"Therefore confess your sins to one another,
and pray for one another, so that you may be healed.
The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much."
James 5:16

I hope you don't decide to be an atheist or a believer based upon the premise that God has forgotten you. Dust that brain off and get out into nature, really look at things - how they are formed and what is their purpose. Maybe if nothing else your depression will be lessened and also maybe you will be led to further your search and thoughts beyond a study of self.

No, you are not wasting your time. Your apathy could be a result of many things, but I know that it is most definately not the result of the lacking of God. He's there; You're not. . . So, you may have other things getting in your way, you may be under an attack of the Enemy, or maybe you are'nt a Christian. If a change (MAJOR) hasn't happened in your life, I would wager to say you're not a believer. God doesn't listen to the prayers of unbelievers EXCEPT for the call to salvation. Maybe, if you pray to God for salvation with true faith (because that's what it takes), you will realize who He is. . .

God never leaves us. . .We leave Him

Oh Sweetie, God hasnt forgotten you! Maybe it's you who have forgotten him? Are you living the way the Lord has asked us to live or have you seperated yourself from him with sin?

All you need is to get your life ontrack and ask forgiveness... honestly and humbly. I have been where you are and looking back on it now I can see where His hands were. I couldnt see it then, I was so filled up with self pity and anger. He's there, but your heart has to be open to Him.

He loves you and will forgive you. And remember sometimes things are resolved in His time and sometimes the answer is no. Trust He knows what is best for you.

I am praying for you,

Jo

No, honey, it is never a waste of time to continue to believe and pray even when all hope seems to be lost. Even in our lowest moments we must hold on to our faith and trust in Him because if there is no hope then there is no reason to live. Apathy is deadly.

As far as being a borderline atheist, you're not one yet, so why not live like a believer? Just try it, pretend that you believe, pretend that you trust and hope, even if you don't. God rewards those who perservere and I'm sure he will answer your prayers.

God bless you!

God never leaves us nor forsakes us. To give up believing could rob you of receiving his blessings. There are plenty of apathetic deists. As a believer, you should be kinder to the grammar gestapo.

Doubt is a tough thing. If Satan can make you doubt your faith or salvation, then he's winning a victory. If you've accepted Christ, then you can never lose your salvation. But if you doubt your salvation, then you'll be less likely to lead others to Christ, and that's a victory in Satan's eyes.

However, it is natural to have doubts sometimes. A book that has really helped me is More Than a Carpenter, by Josh McDowell. It makes it clear that Jesus really is who He says He is, and that He truly died for us. That strengthens my faith, and I realize that the WHOLE Bible is completely true, including the part where it says that God will never leave us nor forsake us.

Pray, read the Bible, and get with others who will build you up. God will get you through any tough times.

definitely your not wasting your time believing God. If i may remind you God has a lot of pomises....

John 10:29-28

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

and another big promise from God...

Hebrew 13:5

5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

So how can we say that He will forget us believer. While in His hand His eyes always upon us, loving and taking care of us.

God bless your heart!!!!!

Consider the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap, yet God feeds them, and not one falls to the earth and the Lord does not know.Consider the lilies of the field and how they grow; they neither toil nor spin.Yet even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as one of them. Are you not much more important than they? The very hairs on your head are all numbered.Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.For God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
God loves and cares for each one of us and "He will never leave nor forsake you". Jesus is a "friend who sticks closer than a brother".
