Sri Lanka.
Land in Colombo and then head straight out up to the hill country and down to the gorgeous beaches of the south and south-eastern coasts. The conflict there is isolated to the north and the north-western coasts, everywhere else is fine.
Sri Lanka is magical, beautiful, culturally rich and there are endless things to do - elephant sanctuaries, gem mines, hiking, trekking, sailing, surfing, canoeing, rafting, ayurvedic spas, etc. or just kicking back and relaxing....the list goes on and on. 10 to 12 days will give you plenty of time as well - enough to see what there is to see while giving you plenty of time to absorb the laid back vibe of the country.
And it's the most obscenely cheap place I have ever been. We stayed in a 5 star hotel for $40 a night, hired a car to drive us across the country (1 day) for $25, a 4 hour spa treatment was $30, and incidentals like food, tuk-tuks, souvenirs, etc. amounted to mere change.
Sri Lanka is spectacular.

Greece is beautiful and reasonably priced. When I go again, I would fly into Athens and take a boat to Rhodes and rent a small room for the full time I'm there and get to know the people.
