NO - not if it's true love. I'm not talking about erotic, or sexual love. I've been thrice married and twice divorced. I'm still in love, not with love itself or simply being in love - I love my man, and he loves me, in spite of all our disappointments. We trust each other, believe in each other, have faith in each other and would lay our lives down for each other. That's the sort of love the Greeks described as Agape love - principled love that seeks the benefit of the recipient, not the giver.
Love never gives up, cares more for others than for itself.
Love doesn't want what it dosn't have, doesn't have a swelled head, doesn't force itself on others, isn't always "me first", doesn't fly off the handle, doesn't keep score of the sins of other, doesn't reveal when others grovel.
Love takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, puts up with anything, trusts God always, always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going to the end.
Love never fails.
PERFECT LOVE DRIVES OUT FEAR.

Yes. You can even sabotage yourself subconsciously to say things and do things that will ruin any chance you had of being with someone because you may be afraid of rejection or commitment etc.

absolutely ... but I think it's more common to fear the changes that love brings, committment, loss, rejection ... that's why people will seem to be in love then flee

Yes I think it is,especially if you've been hurt before, but you gotta think that not everyone is the same and not everyone is going to hurt you.
