The largest UK employer is the government...everything from Prime minister to road sweepers, politicians to traffic wardens.
The largest UK company (by persons employed) appears to be Tesco.

I am guessing that it is Tesco at the moment, I believe they employ over 100,000 people

tesco i think? i know that of every 4 pounds spent in the uk 1 pound ins spent in tesco! if that helps?
