A long time ago I used in school this software that taught you how to type by placing the fingers correctly on each letter...but I don't remember the name...

Do you know the name of any software like that? And where can I download it?

Mavis Beacon teaches typing.

This is the software I learned to type on, and I still love it :)

I can't find a free download, but this is a 3 use trial. I believe the program is around $20.

The "Quick brown fox" method will surely work, but you can also get a program like "Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing." I don't know if it's available online for download, but it's one option.

Another option is to search the web for software. I prefer sites like Version Tracker (see URL below) to look, but keep in mind that for something like this, you're likely to find more than a few to try out.

My advice for picking one: don't try it if you have to pay for it first, and if it's too hard to use (too many menus, options or just too confusing) then move on to the next software - you don't want to spend a lot of time learning how to use the software, just so you can learn how to type.

Good luck!

I am not being silly or stupid, but this is how I learned. Try typing this sentence over and over again, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy cow." It covers every alphabetical character on the keyboard (check it out). No software to download, and it's apparent if you made an ops. This is what us old farts did before there were confusers (computers). Happy New Years.

I think you can get typing software at a computer store in the jewel-case software section for around $9.00. You'll have to look for it.

Apparently the best one I can find is Perfect Typing Pro. It goes for $20.00
