There's times when I wake up in the morning and there are granola bar wrappers, box of crackers and left overs from the fridge sitting out. I don't remember waking up and eating. Is there a medical term for this? I don't want to cause a fire from using the stove when I'm not alert. Should I see a doctor about this?

A day time talk show had a segment on this it was either Dr. Phil or Oprah I can't recall, the segment showed people (mostly women) getting up like clock work and having a meal or preparing a meal without waking up, it is a sleep disorder and you definitely need to get treatment.

Firstly the doctor has to ascertain that you are showing signs of Nocturnal Eating Syndrome and then institute treatment, the underling cause on the segment was dieting and lack of exercise.

Wow. If there's no one else in the house then I guess it would be you. You could be putting on weight. You're possibly right about the stove. Scary. Look into it.

Both of my children sleep eat, usually when they've had something stressful happen in their day that we weren't able to talk about before bed. I would call your dr. Though maybe your not getting into REM sleep, and they can help with that.
