Lemme guess, you're in a Computer Literacy class... maybe with the Art Institute??? Because whats funny is that's the EXACT question of this weeks first assignment. weird. "Week 3: Week 3 - W3: Assignment 1 Discussion Discussion Question 3 Compare Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. When should you use each of these applications? When can you use these applications interchangeably? Give examples and reasons to support your answer."

No you can't; however you can download Open Office Org which is a freeware suite just like Microsoft Office. You can save your work in Microsoft Office, such as .doc. Actually I like it a tad better, and it's the smiling price, FREE, yeah.

No you can't legally download word and excel for free. The closest would be openoffice from http://www.openoffice.org this is a free open source office suite compatible with word and excel files.

There are also online apps you can use such as google docs and spreadsheet http://docs.google.com

No, you can't pirate (illegal) M$ Word and Excel.

Ditto on the suggestion that you download OpenOffice.org's Open Office. I now use Open Office as my word processor and spreadsheet of choice.

Seriously... it works very well... in fact, has some features that Word doesn't have.
