How to write a friendly note which will reestablish contact with a girl?

So basically I’ve decided to ‘reestablish contact’ with a girl from last year by writing a note to her, so we can exchange instant messenger s/ns and catch up. What’s the best way of writing a note/letter [to be passed off in the halls] without being too intrusive, or too direct. Something to let her know I just want to be able to talk again.

We're both 10th graders & we share none of the same classes.

If you want to talk, then TALK to her, forget that stupid note thing.
