By the sounds of things Jesus is making you feel guilty about your life. Maybe you have to reevaluate these things and see if they are really wrong.

Stop seeing this as a personal failure and realize that this is how we learn.

The idea that God is displeased with you is simple religious nonsense. We are here to work our way through some very difficult understandings.

The universe applauds your efforts, these efforts of yours are not being judged as a succession of failures as religion would have you believe.

They are simply seen as important stepping stones on the path to your eventual understanding of the situation you are in.

Your eventually success is as certain as the will that has placed you in this situation to learn to overcome this problem you are facing. It is Gods will that you are here to get this right. You could not possibly fail if you wanted to.

It may take a very long time but your eventual success is never in question. You need to realize that the guilt induced by the beliefs you are following are impediments not helpful in the least. The ideas that create this guilt in your mind are little more than a misunderstanding of our spiritual reality and the way God intended for us to learn.

You are doing fine. If God is satisfied with your progress, and I assure you that this is the case then pay no attention too the foolish ideas that are causing these ideas of guilt and uncertainty in your mind.

You can do this, we have faith in you.

Love and blessings Don

Thanks for writing. I had the same problem - was a heroin addict between the age of 10 (yes, ten) and age 22. My life went to real hell, and it wasn't the addiction, it was that all of my relatives and pets started to die one after the other, even my fiancee who was 15 years younger than me. Anyway, that much death in an eleven week period caused me to look for God. I wish i could tell you that as soon as I started a relationship with God, my life became la de da happy, and I could just walk around with a smile saying "praise the Lord!" but thats not what happened at all -
My life got even crazier - you would think someone left the barn door open and all the horses were running over me. I read in the Bible that if you find Christ, and He has a purpose for your life, and can use you, you might not know what it is He has planned for you, but quess what - Satan sure does. And Satan will do everything possible to distract you away from God. Anything.
Look, you didn't mention what the addiction is, BUT - the first thing you need to realize is what i just told you. Second, you are playing right into satans hand by too much humility - feeling like you wasted your life, etc. Dump all those bad feelings about yourself - you are free in Christ, and you can't do anything positive in your life when you are depressed and not able to forgive yourself. Think about this: If you saw a wonderful marching band go by, and all the members of it are in wonderful costumes and carrying a shiney musical instrument, and marching in perfect order -- then you notice this one guy in the band who has put on all the layers of past costumes he wore, and he is carrying several different instruments - they are so bulky and heavy, that he keeps stumbling and falling out of line, and bumping the other members. What would you tell him?
Wouldn't you tell him that its silly for him to keep carrying stuff from the past around with him - that its weighing him down and making it so that he can't do what he's trying to do? Same thing I will tell you: get rid of the past stuff - dump it right now, today.
Be aware that there are negative things at play here, and refuse to be thwarted by them. Ask for Gods help, and know that it will come. You are gonna require strength to overcome the addiction and you can't be strong when you feel like a failure.
You are not a failure, you have a problem that can be solved.
The week i stopped using heroin, i found a book somebody dropped on the sidewalk. It was weird, me finding that book -
anyway, its called "God Calling" by an author called "Russell".
Get that book and read it - I read it instead of coping dope, very frankly. Its written by two old women who remained anonymous even to the death. On each day of a calendar year, the women called "the two listeners" wrote down a message from Christ. One of the women had tried to commit suicide several times, and both were unbelievably poor. Anyway, its not a long drawn out boring religious book, just whatever the writing was for that day, they wrote it down. so each page in the book has whatever Christ told them that day. I would not recommend this book to you if it did not line up with The Holy Scriptures, but in fact, it does. Its the best set of instructions i have ever seen for someone in your position, and I am now 50 years old, and my addiction stopped successfully with that book almost 30 years ago. Try it, okay? Hang tough, keep your head up, and keep studying your Bible. If you have any questions at all about anything in the Bible or whatever, please feel free to email me.
You are gonna be just fine, and i want you to believe that right now, today - okay?

there is a difference between having to fight an addiction and giving yourself over to it

CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR
Feed your NEW nature... starve the OLD nature.
you cant beat a 400 lb gorilla in a wresling match... unless the gorilla is dead... let the gorilla stay dead... dont revive it or feed it

your addictive feelings may not go away but Jesus will be on your side helping you fight Our old nature is not gone when we believe, we have a new nature struggling with the old until we die

get good fellowship with other believers and go to a good church. I know people who had all sorts of addictions and I think when people are in regular fellowship it helps allot

Happy New Year!!

Repent with your soul. I give you credit for this...it is not easy. God will give you the power to overcome. If you want to live for God and you really take up your cross and follow him, you will loose the desires for all sinful things...you will begin to desire good things, right things, healthy things and you will see God can give you so much more. God will bring you happiness beyond your wildest dreams. Never give up. Pray. Confess. Read scripture. Break tiies with old sinners. Find new Christian friends. Attend a good Bible based church. Join Bible study classes, to understand the word. Get excited about life. Love to live and live to love. God Bless you, welcome to the Family of Christ Dear Sister. We love and accept you. The old life is gone. The slate is wiped clean. You are no longer that person. Forgive yourself and forget your past. This is your new Birthday, you have been born again, into the spirit.

Trust Him. Being a Christian means that you trust God. You lean on Him by claiming promises that He made because; God always keeps His word.

Examples:

Isaiah 53: 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

1 Peter 2:24
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Do not kick yourself for acting unrighteous. But LEARN from what ails you. Your focus is not on yourself! Your focus is to be one Jesus. Yopu have to look to Him, pray and by praying you are doing something about it. You are speaking to Him in the faith that He is listening. That's why prayer is called an act of faith.

Many churches have outreach programs called OA. That means Overcomers Anonymus. You will meet people there that have all sorts of addictions. Try going to every single meeting that you can go to for three months. Hang out with people there is possible.

You have to change your habits, who you hang with, etcetera.

Do these things and you will beat your addiction.

There you have it! ( :

You have accepted Him as your Savior and then are you making Him your L-rd and Master? Submit your will to His.Read the bible and meditate on His word. Spend time in adoration, worship and praise. You will find that in the book of Romans, Paul found himself in similar circumstances, YES, Paul the Apostle. Yet he is the one who instructs us on the principle of G.R.A.C.E. (G-d's Riches At Christs' Expense). Make sure you surround yourself with other Christians at every turn and find someone you can trust and confide in. You probably need to be discipled and possibly in an accountability or support group. But most of all, read your bible, pray and praise.

Well the thing is with addictions the second You feel youve done something you end up feeling satisfied and screw up. Sodont feel youve accomplished everything with finding the lord, You have to then acknowledge thats its a small step towards the finish line. Also Exercise and drink water. I dont know what your addiction is but whatever it is, IT HELPS. And if that doesnt help go to the doctor and pick up some antidepressants theyll defenitly help.

Can you specify your addiction?
If it's drugs/alcohol, seriously consider Teen Challenge. Despite it's name, it helps men & woman of all ages. It has the highest cure rate in America; 86% after 5 years, whereas AA's cure rate is 3% after 2 years.

Lay it down sincerely before Jesus and tell him you want his help.
Renew your life in him, and live the resolve of 100% trust in him, remebering that his promises come with obedience.
You are not a faiulre - that is impossible in God's eyes because that is why he came. Avoid the location of sin and make any changes you need to.

It's a good thing that you have your faith to help you get through this ordeal but we have to accept the fact that there are people who can help you with your addiction. Seek professional help. Try to maintain a good relationship with your family. They can truly provide the support you need.
